Your first appointment

Your first appointment is an assessment appointment.

A highly skilled physiotherapist will be present during this appointment, with access to an experienced GP with a special interest in Musculoskeletal problems.  They will assess your condition and aim to start treatment straight away.

If you are offered an appointment in our service, your first appointment with us will be a consultation where we may examine you, and will aim to start treating your condition.

An examination may involve close inspection of the problem area, and any related areas. This may require you to remove your outer clothing items ie:

  • For arm/shoulder problems we may assess the upper back and neck areas.
  • For knee problems we may assess feet and/or hip and back areas.

PLEASE ATTEND YOUR APPOINTMENTS WEARING APPROPRIATE UNDERCLOTHING AND/OR BRING SHORTS WITH YOU TO THE APPOINTMENT.

We may also offer you an injection at your first or follow-up appointment, if this is appropriate as part of your treatment. Please be advised that if you require a same day injection, you cannot have your Covid/Flu vaccination within 2 weeks either side of this injection. We also cannot inject if you are on antibiotics and the procedure would be delayed until 3 weeks after you had completed the course of antibiotics.

What will happen after my appointment?

Where required we will offer you a follow up appointment and/or provide you with a self-help plan and some exercise for you to do independently.  Alternatively, we may refer you on to another service.
